Ever wonder...  what does it take to make the DJ laugh?

What entertains the radio entertainer?

Welcome to the Web site of author Paul Grubb. His first non-fiction writing "The Beet Goes On And On", takes you through a world of family and friendships where pulling pranks on each other was quite common place.  Sometimes, these pranks went a little overboard, but always resulted in a lot of laughs, even for the victim. You'll also find that "Beet" from the title, isn't a spelling mistake.

This isn't your typical Top 40 radio dj autobiography, filled with boring inside radio details.

These humorous, real life stories and pranks that Paul experienced while working mostly as a radio d.j. have been told and retold for nearly 20 years.  Many friends finally convinced him to put all the experiences into written form, in order to share with everybody.

"...During my teen days in a small town high school, I also worked as a projectionist at the local theater. When high school ended I began attending a broadcasting school in the big city of Washington, D.C. and then at just 18, on to my first job, back in a very small town.
Fortunately for me, I was easily entertained.  I was always a kidder, with a quick wit and the ability to zing others with some prank or practical joke.

Growing up in the TV generation, my favorite comedy sources were the likes of: Johnny Carson, Jonathan Winters, Steve Allen, Red Skelton, Bill Cosby, Soupy Sales, Lucille Ball, Paul Lynde, Carol Burnette, & Dick Van Dyke, just to name a few.

I've always loved to make people laugh, even at my own expense.  I learned early that so many of the old TV sitcoms revolved around some kind of prank that always resulted in a big laugh.

Usually, if you tell someone that you're about to pull some silly prank on someone else, they want to be a part of it.  As long as they don't tip off the victim of the prank, it often helps to have an eager assistant.

It didn't take long to discover that radio stations attracted many similar eclectic and unusual personalities.  So, that made for a lot of fun times..."

All the stories are completely true, however some of the names and places have been changed to protect identities.
